As of May 2014 the HOMATHERM® 52mm and 120mm UD-Q11 protect underlay boards will feature a groove and tongue profile that makes installation easier. The pressure-resistant insulating boards with more rigid edge profiles are placed above the rafters for additional insulation. UD-Q11 protect is also used for windproofing and as a second waterproof layer for rear-ventilated facades.

When renovating roofs with UD-Q11 protect, make sure the installation is dry, free from gaps and covers the entire surface. The boards must also be perfectly aligned. They are installed together along the eaves from the left to the right in the direction of the ridge. The tongue points to the right and upwards. In the first row, the groove has to be cut off. The insulating boards are attached through the joists to the rafters with clout nails and approved fasteners. Nail sealing tape is not needed. With a thickness of up to 60mm, UD-Q11 protect can be attached with nails; with a thickness of 80mm and more, the board has to be attached with approved roof screws.
